EMS
EMS is an international postal Express Mail Service, for documents and merchandise, offered by postal operators of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) connecting more than 180 countries and territories worldwide.
EMS takes priority over other postal services. This means EMS items are delivered faster.
The EMS global network has the most customer access points in the world, based on Post Office counters.
EMS postal operators have the largest last mile coverage worldwide supported by the postal delivery network to reach every business and citizen in the world.
This is the easiest and most convenient way to send and receive mail anywhere in Uganda and the World.
EMS has options of a pre-paid or post-paid contract to convey mails on a regular basis.
Under Pre-Paid, a specified amount of money is deposited with Posta and the account will be reduced by the amount due to Posta whenever mail is posted. A statement of transactions will then be prepared at the end of each month.
Under Post Paid, Posta Uganda sends a detailed transactions invoice at the end of every month.
Posta offers a regular business collection and delivery service. Pick up is at no cost to you.
EMS guarantees same day delivery within Kampala and delivery within 48 hours, anywhere in Uganda.
All EMS delivery items are automatically compensated against loss or damage.
Tracking/Tracing & Proof of Delivery
For international deliveries, we have Track and Trace facilities, which enable tracking the progress of mail sent until they reach the recipient. We provide proof of delivery for domestic items sent.
Service Packages offered by EMS include;
1) Contractual Service Package: This package is specifically designed for customers dealing in bulk mail. With this package, customers enter into an agreement with EMS and are billed at the end of the month. This package comes with a bonus free pick-up service and special rates.
2) The ‘M’-Bag Service Package: This service ensures total security of mail between the drop off office and its final destination. Mail is delivered in special bags with a locking facility, which ensures that your mail is secure. This package is recommended for contractual customers.
3) On Demand Service Package: Under this package, a customer simply calls on the nearest EMS office and pays as they post their particulars. This service does not require one to sign any agreements with EMS
How To Apply
Walk-in Customers and Contract Customers
For Walk-in clients, one simply walks to the counter and posts their item(s) as an EMS.
Details that include sender name, address and contacts, receiver name, address and contact, destination and weight of the mail are captured
Postage for the item(s) is determined basing on weight and destination of the item. The client is asked to pay the costs for the service.
After the client pays, a receipt is issued to them and the item is processed further in order for it to be delivered to its destination.
Contract customers first have to sign an agreement with Posta Uganda.
Afterwards they can post items and have them delivered by EMS.
There are two options for posting items for a contract customer:
Items can be picked from the customer’s location by Posta staff for posting and further processing or the customer can go to Posta physically and have their items posted over the counter.
A Contract customer can be prepaid or postpaid customer. This means they do not pay posting fees at the time of posting. Either a deposit is paid from which deductions are made for items posted or the customer is billed at the end of the month for items posted within that period.

Delivery of Items
Upon items arriving at their destination, EMS delivers them directly to their clients. Clients do not have come to Posta Uganda to pick their items. They are delivered to them.
In cases as when a wrong address for delivering to was provided, or for a lack of an address to deliver to, is when the client is notified of their item at EMS ready for them to pick.
