Virtual Boxes

A Virtual Box Address is an Electronic/Digital Postal Address Box. It is operated online attached to a Post Office station of client’s preference.

Unlike the Physical Address Box which the client accesses physically at a Post Office station using their key to the lock, Digital Address Boxes are not physically located at the station. A client’s interaction with Post Office through the Postal Address is by notifications.

The Digital Address is linked to a client’s Phone Number, Email Address and their Post Mail account. This allows the client to receive instant notifications through SMS and Email. A client can also monitor their Digital Box transactions using the Post Mail account. This includes incoming mail, outgoing mail, renewal and subscriptions, online domestic and international product purchases etc.

The Digital Address is used in correspondence to write to and be written to. It is used as an address that items are delivered to. For purchases made online, domestic and international, the Digital Address is ideal for use as point of delivery.

The Digital Address is cheap and brings convenience to the client by making monitoring of transactions online and the notifications through SMS and Email possible

How To Apply

There are two ways of application: Onsite/physical and Online

Onsite/Physical Application at the Post Office

Companies

  1. Fill out Postal Address application form
  2. Attach a copy of the certificate of incorporation for already registered company or a copy of the reservation slip if name of company has been reserved for registration but not yet registered
  3. Attach copies of IDs for directors (two) of the company
  4. Pay the service fee

 

Individuals

  1. Fill out a Postal Address application form
  2. Attach a copy of Identity Card
  3. Attach a passport size photo
  4. Pay the service fee

  1. Visit the Client Portal at https://www.eposta.ug
  2. Create an account on the Client Portal
  3. Log into the Client Portal
  4. At the left side bar, click on “Postal Address”
  5. Click on the “Postal Address Application”
  6. Choose customer type from the “Customer Type” field
  7. Select the preferred Post Office station from the “Preferred Post Office” field
  8. Select “Virtual Box” from the “Box Type” field
  9. Enter details of the Postal Address Renter
  10. Confirm Mobile Number from which payments will be deducted via Mobile Money. If the number is incorrect or not the number to be used to pay, enter the right number from which the payments will be deducted
  11. Agree to the terms and conditions by ticking the box with “I have read and understood the terms and conditions” statement alongside it
  12. Click the “Make Payment” button

Annual Rental Fees

Companies:

Kampala GPO: UGX 90,000/=

DPOs in Kampala: UGX 90,000/=

Regional Post Offices: UGX 80,000/=

Other DPOs: UGX 60,000/=

Kampala SPOs: UGX 50,000/=

Other SPOs: UGX 30,000/=

No extra costs.

Individuals:

Digital Addresses cost UGX 20,000/= regardless of the station they are attached to.
