Private Bags
A Private Mail Bag is a solution for specialized mail delivery to a single location.
Like a P.O. Box address, a Private Mail Bag address has a number allocated to the user.
The bag usually has a lock on it to secure its contents. Posta Uganda keeps a copy of the key to the bag and a contact who is part of the client is also provided with a key.
It differs from P.O. Box delivery in that whereas the holder of a P.O. Box has to come to the Post Office in order to collect mail, the mail sent to a private bag is dispatched to the holder.
When items are sent to a client of a Private Bag, the items are put into a bag and a list of the items is generated. The bag is locked and dispatched to the recipient together with the generated list. Upon arrival at its destination, the contact at the destination opens the bag and confirms the contents using the list of items that was dispatched with the bag.
How To Apply
Client applies for the service through writing to Posta Uganda.
Client has to be an existing client with Posta Uganda.
These are either Prepaid clients or Contract Customers.
Client pays a fee determined by Posta Uganda.
A bag with a number is thereafter allotted to the client.
Annual Rental Fees
Cost of service is charged monthly.
The fees range from UGX 3,000,000/= upwards depending on the client location points.
